Day 1 starts early (0700-0800) with three pre-courses: the resident’s pre-course, an ultrasound pre-course, and the AHPA pre-course.

The registration desk opens at 1430 in the Salon Verchères.

CRA 2015 officially kicks off at 1600 with a welcome from the Scientific Chair, Dr. Evelyn Sutton (Salle de Bal). This is followed by the National Update with topics including: Competency-Based Training in Rheumatology, Wait Time Alliance - Benchmarks & Indigenous Access to Care and Limited Use Criteria, New Scleroderma Classification, The Canadian Rheumatology Association's Choosing Wisely Recommendations, and the Royal College MOC Program Updates.

Controversies in Rheumatology (starting at 1730) will present topics including: Do Temporal Artery Biopsies Change the Course of Management?, Is there Actually Reasonable Evidence for an Adverse Effect on Conception or Pregnancy When the Male is on Methotrexate? and The 101 on Joints for Joints. It should be a “highly” entertaining session.

The scientific component of the first day ends with the State of the Art Lecture - A Genomic Approach to Understanding Rheumatic Disease presented by Dr. Virginia Pascual. Dr. Pascual is a pediatric rheumatologist with long standing experience in Translational Research and a focus on Human Autoimmunity.

The fun begins at 1930 with a Welcome Reception hosted by the Canadian Rheumatology Association & The Arthritis Society.
