Before attending EULAR I decided to start a low carbohydrate diet to better fit into my summer attire. Arriving in Rome it became obvious that continuing on this plan would not be possible and very offensive to the Italian culture.
Today at the conference while writing a RheumReport I was sitting in the "cyber cafe" area on a wooden folding chair (similar to a deck chair). Suddenly the chair collapsed and the wood appeared to crack. I landed on the floor unharmed, perhaps a little bruised.
So lesson to those attending: either avoid the wooden deck chairs or cut back on the pizza and pasta !!!
