Would you like to enjoy the amazing views of Lake Louise, all the while staying warm and cozy and enjoying something warm and sweet? Then make sure to take advantage of Afternoon Tea at the Chateau Lake Louise Lakeview Lounge. Afternoon Tea at any Fairmont Hotel is a wonderful experience, but nothing compares to enjoying warm scones, clotted cream and jam while enjoying the majestic views of frozen Lake Louise and the soaring, snow-capped mountain tops.
I thankfully reserved a spot for Afternoon Tea prior to checking in, and I am so glad that I did. The tea service consists of a delightful assortment of carefully hand-crafted finger sandwiches, a three-tiered tray of fresh, warm buttermilk scones, Devonshire cream, lemon custard spread and delicious jams, as well as an assortment of tarts, cookies, and chocolate delights. There is also an extensive tea menu, with everything from the full-bodied Fairmont blend to a variety of light white teas, as well as some delcious Darjeeling varieties and a dark-bodied, Ethiopian tea with a mocha flavour and rich chocolate undertones. For those who are caffeine averse, there is also a wide selection of herbal and berry teas. Also, dietary modifications can be accomodated if requested in advance.
We were seated at a table nudged beside one of the tall, expansive windows of the Lakeview Lounge with a gorgeous panoramic view of the lake and surrounding mountains. With the lightly falling snow, the experience could not have been more postcard perfect!
So if you have any downtime during this conference, spend some of it enjoying life's simple pleasures in a majestic, magical setting. Henry James, in his novel "Portrait of a Lady", perhaps said it best: "There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."
