Lillian Barra, MD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Rheumatology and the Department of Immunology and Microbiology at Western University.
Dr. Barra completed her post-graduate training in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology at the Western University and her Masters of Public Health at Harvard University.
A major area of research interest for Dr. Barra is the role of autoantibodies in rheumatoid arthritis and associated complications, in particular vascular disease. Her other interests include autoimmune vascular disease, leading her to establish the first interdisciplinary vasculitis centre in Southwestern Ontario. Dr. Barra's research is translational involving mouse models of rheumatoid arthritis, biomarker studies, as well as epidemiologic studies. She has participated in several national and international cohort studies in both rheumatoid arthritis and vasculitis.
