Cathy Flanagan, MD, FRCP(C) studied medicine at McGill University then completed fellowships in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. She has been a Consultant in the Department of Internal Medicine at the Royal Columbian Hospital since 2000 and a Clinical Professor at the University of British Columbia since 2009.

Dr. Flanagan has been actively involved in administration and teaching, from the medical student to the resident level. She has participated in many continuing medical education conferences for family physicians and specialists. She was Director of the Arthritis Program at the Catherine Booth Hospital in Montreal and has served as a consultant for BC PharmaCare.

In addition to her clinical work in rheumatology, Dr. Flanagan is involved in SPARCC, a national group of rheumatologists and other health care professionals setting guidelines and policies for patients with spondyloarthropathy.

Dr. Flanagan is married to an invasive cardiologist and together they have four children, ages 22, 23, 29 and 30.
